General Assembly Youth Advisory Delegate
Each General Assembly year the Presbytery of Philadelphia is privileged to send one Youth Advisory Delegate (YAD) to General Assembly. This year the General Assembly will be meeting July 3 -July 10, 2010 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Each church in our Presbytery may nominate youth between ages of 17 and 23.
Below you will find an application for the YAD to be completed by the nominee and a reference form to be completed by the youth's pastor, youth leader or another adult from the congregation.
The applications are due at the Presbytery office by February 17 and interviews of nominees will take place late February.
Each nominee will be contacted to time and place. Phone interviews will take place if the nominee is unable to be present for the interview. Following the interviews one delegate and one alternate will be recommended to the Presbytery. The YAD will be required to attend a General Assembly orientation that will be held July 3 to July 10. All expenses for the orientation are cover by the Presbytery and all expenses for General Assembly are covered by the General Assembly. You may nominate more than one youth from your congregation.
Participating in the General Assembly as a Youth Advisory Delegate is a tremendous opportunity to begin to understand the work of church at a different level, to see the process in operation, to be exposed to the thoughts and debates of elders and clergy representing other regions of our denomination, to be informed of the issues and concerns of our denomination, to meet young people involved and committed to the church and most of all to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.
