2020 Vision

November 7, 2009

Session I - The Physics of Church Transformation

The first law of thermodynamics states that energy can be transformed but cannot be created or destroyed. Starting with that Rev. Steve Shussett, Teaching Presbyter of Lehigh Presbytery, began the first of four 2020 Vision events. His presentation on the Physics of Church Transformation focused on the need for Congregations need to understand Spiritual Energy as something that can be transformed and transforming but through the work of the Holy Spirit cannot be destroyed.

Throughout the day the 18 participating congregations engaged in conversation and learnings around the topics of "Discovering Spiritual Energy"; "Embracing Spiritual Energy"; "Spiritual Energy and the New Physics" and "Living Spiritual Energy".  The participants went home with several tasks, including Dwelling in the Word, before Session 2 in February.

Upcoming Sessions are:

Session II - Telling Our Stories - Individually and corporately; led by Susan Faye Wonderland, Associate Executive for the Synod of the Trinity. ( Feb. 6, 2010)

Session III - Building Relationships - Connecting to all your Neighbors; led by Philip Lotspeich, PCUSA and Bill Golderer, Broad Street Ministry
