Head Start Learning Tree is a comprehensive preschool program, focusing on low-income children and their families in West, South and Southwest Philadelphia. HSLT is charged with providing services to 770 children and does that in 41 classrooms at 13 sites. HSLT also serves its families by supporting them with their mental health, disabilities, educational, social services, nutritional and health needs and/or concerns.
Of the number of children enrolled in Head Start Learning Tree at the end of the 2008-2009 program year, 411 children transitioned to kindergarten the following school year. That number represents 54% of the total funded enrollment.
Parents play an integral part at HSLT in their roles as decision makers for the program and their children. Additional support and/or training is offered to HSLT families through the numerous collaborative relationships that have been sown throughout HSLT's existence.
The Head Start Learning Tree is one of the ministries of the Presbytery of Philadelphia.
