Local Staff Member Tapped to Help Coordinate PC(USA) Haiti Recovery

Bill ReinholdPresbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) has requested that Bill Reinhold, Associate for Mission Partnerships and Urban Ministry with the Presbytery of Philadelphia assist them by coordinating between PDA and the other organizations and agencies of the PC(USA) in the recovery effort in Haiti following the January 12th earthquake.

Reinhold's role will be to keep up with needs, resources, and plans of such groups as Presbyterian World Mission and particularly the Haiti Network, the Outreach Foundation, the Medical Benevolence Foundation, and the Presbyterian Hunger Program. He will continue to work out of the Presbytery of Philadelphia office and continue his other duties as Associate for Mission Partnerships and Urban Ministry.

In agreeing to release part of Reinhold's time for this effort, Acting General Presbyter Albert DerMovsesian said, "Bill has the necessary background and connections to make a significant contribution to our [PC(USA)'s] role in Haiti. We are pleased that the Presbytery of Philadelphia can assist in this way by making him available to PDA at this time."

Bill Reinhold has long experience in working overseas and in disaster settings. He and his wife spent 20 years as PC(USA) missionaries in the Congo and Jamaica and they know many of the players in the various agencies and organizations of the church. He joined the staff of the Presbytery of Philadelphia in September, 2005, just in time to launch the Presbytery's response to Hurricane Katrina.
